A precious, robust and dynamic material, leather cannot escape the vagaries of life and the test of time. To ensure that your bag lasts for generations and looks as good as new, follow our care and cleaning advice to preserve it for as long as possible.
Just as wine improves with age, time is leather's ally. If necessary, give your bag a boost of energy to care for its material by cleaning it or simply by conditioning its leather.
Use only our Saphir colourless nourishing cream. Shake the bottle before each use. First passage to cleanse with a small amount of creme. Second pass to nourish and care also with a small touch of cream.
The cream should be applied to a textile and then rubbed into the product in a circular motion to ensure an even finish. A soft clean brush can be used for this operation on grained leather. This operation will change the appearance of the product.
Never dry the product near a heat source or in the sun. It should dry at room temperature of 19 °C to 25 °C. The drying time may be 2 to 8 hours depending on the creams used. Buffing can be done with a chamois or cotton cloth.
Every leather is different, so be very careful before applying anything. If you are using a more natural leather such as Le Roseau Luxe or Longchamp 3D, you will need to wait until the bag has developed a patina. Never wet them. To preserve its original shape, curves and structure, you should not overfill it and fill the interior with tissue paper after each use.
When you are not using your bag for a long period of time, it is best to follow the instructions below:
If necessary, use a clean sponge/damp cloth with a pH-neutral white soap and very little water at room temperature. Do not soak the fabric.
Caution: textiles with natural fibres such as laminated cotton can become wavy.
Dampen by dabbing evenly the entire surface of the fabric (to avoid creating halos) using a clean sponge / cloth. It is important not to wet the leather parts.
Immediately after, remove the solution with a damp cloth. Then wipe the entire product to remove any excess liquid. The bag should be almost dry and should not leak when drying. This step is essential, especially if the bag contains several colours.
Preferably dry upside down, with the handles facing down. Never dry the product near a heat source or in direct sunlight. It should dry at a room temperature of 19-25°C.
Use a suitable nylon brush that is firm and clean.
It is best to use circular movements over the entire velvet surface to obtain an even finish.
Do not use our cream on suede or nubuck.
Never use cream on patent leather.
If necessary, use a clean sponge/damp cloth with a pH-neutral white soap and very little water at room temperature (a solution for patent leather is ideal). Do not soak the leather, do not use abrasive materials. Apply evenly using circular movements all over the product. Immediately after applying the solution, remove the soap with a damp cloth and a little water. Then, using a microfiber, wipe the entire product to remove any excess liquid. The bag should be almost dry and should not leak when drying. This step is essential, especially if there are several colors of leather on the bag.
Preferably dry upside down, with the handles facing down. Never dry the product near a heat source or in direct sunlight. It should dry at an ambient temperature of 19-25°C.
Colourless cream emulsion that cleans, nourishes and protects without damaging the leather. Formula based on 28.9% beeswax and enriched with jojoba oil and lanolin chosen for their nourishing properties.
It can be applied to the most delicate leathers (except nubuck, suede and patent leathers). Its special feature is that it gives a very deep, long-lasting shine without the need to wait for it to dry and without the need for sustained rubbing. Saphir Universal Cream does not clog or leave a whitish deposit on leather.
Note: this is a solvent-free, highly concentrated formula, so there's no need to overload the leather with the cream. Shine immediately after application.
